Working on lots of things............
I played with my batik orphan blocks on graph paper yesterday. Since this doesn't include color I have no idea if the layout will work. This is using mostly edge to edge blocks. If it doesn't work when I put them up on the design wall I'll go to plan B with lots of spacers.
I sewed the second Laurel Burch baby quilt together. The one on the left is 39.5" x 52" and on the right, 54" square. The big one would be big enough for 2 babies to play on.
I spent a considerable amount of time in the basement yesterday going through all of the stuff that was behind 2 design walls. I took the two 1" styrofoam 4' x 7' boards to my workshop Saturday and now they are going to go into my main floor studio. I will replace them with two 1.5" boards in the basement.
I have lots of blooms in my winter garden right now. This is 2 plants side by side. The one on the right is the peach/orange. I have 2 plants in that color now and the other one is loaded with buds.
This is the same one that had blooms at Christmas. I still have several plants that haven't bloomed yet and almost all of the early bloomers are setting buds again. There is no rhyme or reason to their blooming.

you always have such pretty blooms on your plants. Neither of mine bloomed - I had bought another one to sit with the old one from my mom that I kept after she died and although I brought the newer one home with blooms within a week or two all the bloom buds that had been it had dried up and fallen off! Oh well even if they don't bloom they are pretty plants - maybe one day.
Love the graph paper notebook. I want to find one. Glad you have lots going on. No repeat bloomings on my Christmas cacti.

Looking forward to your challenge with the misc blocks. I keep thinking I need to try this.....just not brave enough.
I'm on my second graph paper notebook. My first was busting at the seams and I hated to start on a second one but I did. Mine is a multi-tasker, part quilt designer, part journal, part scrap book, part inspiration, part grocery list. Its a great way to track all the quilts I have made and gifted.
Love the cactus photos. I am keeping my fingers crossed and holding my breath, I have one with buds on it!

My cactus are growing and looking beautiful, more leaf buds but no flowers. They are very full and look great as a houseplant, very easy to care for and I am sure they will bloom again someday.
Beautiful flowers -- and it is so gray and rainy here, I'm grateful for those bursts of color!
Thanks for showing us your method to put together a bunch of leftover blocks. It helps to start out with a paper plan of some sort. And, once you try it on the design board things can and will change as needed. LOVE your cactus. I've been having issues with mine. (Should I admit that someone knocked my bigger one off its location more than once?) I've been able to take a cutting and get it growing but the original died an untimely death. I miss having these plants hanging around the house. Yours make me want to run out and buy several ... but I will be strong and not do that!
