Rearranging........

My 2 friends came over to sew yesterday and I finished the blocks for the second flannel Stack and Slash.  I may rearrange a couple blocks but I was too tired last night to spend any more time on the layout.

I also played with the orphan blocks.  I do intend to use as many possible all in one quilt.  My main decision is whether I am grouping like blocks and if the answer is yes, I need to sew those sections together to help with the designing.  I still have 5 more paper pieced stars, 5 Blazing Stars and lots more red/purple 16 patches that aren't up there.  Everything will change once the seam allowances are sewn.
I removed this batch of double 4 patches from yesterday's layout and will make a table runner with them.  I took the rest of the double 4 patches and moved them out like a border instead of grouping them as in the layout yesterday.

I have the twice monthly sew-in today and tomorrow morning need to take my van to the dealer and get the lift gate on the back fixed.  Saturday is the Stack and Slash workshop so I won't get any farther on this orphan quilt this week.

Sometimes I wonder how your brain shifts gears so fast in a day. All those photos are all different processes. Sometimes my gears get stuck in one mode and I find it hard to switch to another task. Even though I have lots of projects going on, sometimes it gets overwhelming which to choose to work on. You do it so well, as the photos show.

I'm liking your "orphan" block quilt. FUN!

I think all of your readers are having fun rearranging your blocks in our mind! Personally, I would either break up the "like" groups and make it like a puzzle, adding spacers as needed, or make a medallion-type quilt. But however you do it, it will be fun! Love the photos showing the process.

I love orphan block quilts. I'm excited to see what your outcome is!

I like symmetry, and would have those largest in the centre, and round that, arrange the other matched blocks, in their own designs, if there are enough to do a complete round. Lovely designs in every one.

I can't wait to see what you do with the orphan blocks. It would never have occurred to me to join all alike blocks as you have in the picture, except, perhaps, as a border. But I've learned, with respect to what you do, not to make very early decisions that I don't like it, because you almost always end up convincing me that you're right! Not that you try - I'm sure, you don't care especially what I think - but after looking and studying your final decisions, I almost always end up liking them, even if I initially think they are the wrong ones! So I await the final outcome :-)
