Icy driveway.......mug rug sewing......

My driveway was plowed yesterday but at 9 degrees the residue was very icy.  I walked very carefully out to get my newspapers.  After falling on ice almost 2 years ago I would really rather just stay inside.

I chose more backings and bindings and finished four more mug rugs yesterday.  All of these tops have been in a drawer for a year or more.

I had to change thread many times for the quilting thread and then for the binding thread on some of them.  These are all in the 8.5" - 9.5" size.

I know what you mean about being careful on ice! here in Arkansas we normally get ice more than snow and I hate it! I did get a pair of Yaktrax Pro's to put on my boots when I am outside and they do work. A little hard to put on the shoes but better than falling.
All of your mug rugs are pretty - gifts I assume?

More cute mug rugs! Thank goodness we did not get any snow that stayed. I only saw a dusting on the deck. It was cold, 34 degrees the lowest, but the sun was shining so I still managed to get my walks in Saturday and Sunday.

These are great! I'm making some, too, this year, for gifts. Good idea - stay inside where it's safe and warm! I had to check where you live (I forgot). Too early for 9 degrees! eek!

Your mug rugs are fun……such a great way to be creative with the scraps! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Wanda!

I love your mug rugs. We are going to Utah for Thanksgiving and when I get back, I am making mug rugs to go with the monogrammed cups I bought for 5 people for Christmas. They are fun to make. Be careful on that ice-we don't get ice when it is 80 degrees out:)

Can you have the paper delivered on your porch during bad weather? Just a thought. Enjoying your quilt posting. I made mug rugs a few years ago. Happy Thanksgiving.

I was born in Chicago, lived in the area until 2011. Glad to be away from snow and ice, although ice can come to southern Texas, also. Maybe ice cleats would help. The paper never gets very close to the house anymore. You are very resourceful with your time. Will the mug rugs be holiday gifts?

I think I'd switch to online news for the winter!

I'd stay inside too. I know that I don't have to tell you to be careful.

Yes! Do be careful! A friend of mine, just broke her ankle, about a year ago she broke her other ankle! Neither time was there any snow or ice, she just tripped, and she's young, not even 50 yet. But it's so easy to fall on the ice, and the older we are, the harder we fall, it seems.
Your mug rugs are great. You will have a fabulous finish this month; though they are small, they will add up!

Cute mug rugs! When it's cold outside, nothing better to sew and quilt inside!
