Quilts made with rectangles............

I decided to make a collage of some of the quilts I have made with rectangles and designed one piece at a time.  I have made others that were made from strip piecing which aren't included here.  I have shown all of these in posts previously.  In the top row the first two were in posts in 2007, the year I started my blog.  The bottom right piece was in a post in 2008.  Several people asked what I am going to do with the rectangles I cut during my garage sale.  Most likely the first thing will be a mini colorwash.

The diagonal setting creates an entirely different (and very interesting) look.

I like the idea of using the technique to create a picture (like your landscape.)

Why do you prefer rectangles to squares? Somehow I missed that.

I am so impressed with the landscape design. Those are really great rectangle quilts.

These are beautiful. Have you always made them with rectangles or mostly squares ? However you make them, they are fantastic.

I am interested in your use of the die cutting machines. I'd love it if you did a blog entry in which you discussed your use of the machines, pro and con issues, etc. I begin to think I might enjoy one (maybe the GO baby?) but am just beginning that thought. You seem a perfect "mentor" to tell us about them!!!!

So interesting. And fun to know the order, more or less, in which they were made. I definitely prefer your more recent work! That may be because you have gotten better, or just because it's more contemporary. Who knows. They're all quite stunning, though, and your amazing sense of color shows through.
