Hours of hand sewing...........

First I sewed the purple facing strip on the bottom edge of the banner and flipped it out and edge stitched it.  Then I sewed the sleeve for the rod to the facing strip by machine.  Next I pressed the facing to the back of the quilt and hand stitched the facing to the backing.  Then I flipped the sleeve up and started hand stitching it to the backing.   I have 16" left to do today.  I just couldn't sit there one more minute.  The banner is a few inches less than 6 feet wide so it takes awhile to stitch.

After my 2 friends left yesterday I mowed the grass for the first time since July 30.  The weeds were taller than the grass and it looks a lot better now.

Good morning Wanda.....Very soon now, your beautiful piece pf art will be hanging in the house of God, where so many of his children will be able to gaze upon your fabulous piece of fabric art. This should make you very proud indeed, knowing that, for generations to come, a part of you will be providing inspiration and a love of quilting, after we have left our sewing machines for good. Enjoy the cooler weather.

I need to mow too. It had been awhile since I have done it since it has been so dry. Such a contrast from all the rain we had in June! We are having some very light rain right now.

I am trying to find better ways to sit while I do handwork. My way of sitting is not so healthy, I think.

yikes, you lost me there. I can't figure out how the photo illustrates your description. what's the brownish strip at the top? is that the sleeve? is the facing white? why does it look like the backing (white with quilting lines in it) is on top of the flat white strip at the bottom? sorry to be so dense!
