More playing.......

While I wait for my fabric order to arrive I decided to try out my new 8" clamshell die and see how easy (or hard) they are to sew together by machine.  It isn't too bad so I will work on it between other projects.  I also sewed together some 4 patches for another quilt I'm working on.  I helped a friend baste a quilt yesterday morning and then we went out for lunch so it was a fun day.

I can not imagine the mess I would make sewing those on the machine.

I've always been fascinated by the clam shell pattern. It will be an interesting in-between project for you.

I look forward to the reports on this. Since I'm making a clamshell wall I should probably make a clamshell quilt too.

I love your quilts. They sparkle like jewels. I just got and Accuquilt Go. I thought about getting the clamshell die so I look forward to seeing how your quilt comes along. Hugs

I'd love to see a tutorial on how you're doing this. I have that die, but I've been intimidated to try it.

Now, I love clamshells, so this is looking very promising indeed! Onwards!

I've only tried the 12" - in fact I've got an entire top of them done and ready to quilt. Yours looks great, love the rich colors.

I am completely in the dark about how you sew those together. Can you explain it in a little more detail? Not that I don't realize that your time is full and all that. ;-)

I'm with Mary Beth, above. I have the clamshells cut out of Kaffe Fassett but am too intimidated to sew them together. I'd love to know your secret to success!

I am really intimidated by the clam shell.....even though I absolutely love it! Any tips in your infinite wisdom you could share about construction?

That is a lot of little curves to sew!!

The clamshells look great - but I can't imagine piecing them, mon machine or by hand! More power to you! I'm sure you'll do a beautiful job, if that's what you decide to do!

I love clamshells but cannot imagine sewing them by machine! I'm impressed!

Bonjour de France

J'attends impatiemment les explications de la couture machine des clamshells.
Une question :que faites vous de tous vos quilts magnifiques ?

I like those clamshells! Always one of my favorites in Kaffe's book. Still haven't made one yet though - lol! Your snowballs are coming along so pretty too.

I really like how the clamshell quilts look, but all those curves make me nervous. The Drunkard's Path is easy, for me, because there is only that one big curve in each block. This one looks a lot harder.
