Yard work, cutting fabric.........

If you look carefully right in the center of the photo you will see the start of my first tomato on the Early Girl vine.  All of the vines are growing faster now.

I mowed the grass, cut more fabric for current projects and mixed 2 batches of cookie dough to chill overnight.  It was another beautiful day in the 70s.  The hot weather is coming next week.

Yep, we're supposed to have some excruciatingly hot weather too!!! I'm sure the humidity will make it feel much worse. I have some grape tomatoes growing and one turning red right now. Of course I have been caring for these since April!!! No hot oven until September.... me thinks!

Have you been watching Melody's garden grow down south at their new house? It's growing like magic.

It's always exciting seeing that first tomato on the vine.

my gardens are not doing as well this year, we do have tomatoes growing but we had so much rain the past month and not a lot of sunny days - could be better for the growing to have had more sun, the plants are much thinner than what I had last year at this time.

We have tomatoes on most of our vines now. I am looking forward to homegrown tomatoes for sandwiches and just to eat sliced.

Love your photo of that first hopeful tomato. Early Girl has been giving us the little red beauties for two weeks now. (No. California).

I am getting lots of blooms on my tomato plants but no baby toms yet. I think there should be some by now as I have had blooms for 3 weeks. Waiting . . . .

Our first tomato this summer wasn't on one of our early girl plants ... but since then, they've made up for their "slow start" ... there must be 40-50 tomatoes already on one of our early girls!

I love your Northwinds quilt ... it's now on my list! Thanks for the inspiration.
