Mainly outside............

I worked on the back garden yesterday morning.  I'm still cleaning out dried flower stalks from last year as well as digging some of the excess plants.

My blue columbine is in an awkward spot but I won't chance trying to move it.
The pale pink columbine is in the back garden too.  I didn't see this one coming up early in the spring so I was happy when it did show up.

I have several plants with the deep rose flowers.  This one is on the north side of my garage.  There are 3 plants, one of which is growing in the crack of the sidewalk.  No transplanting for that one.

The peonies are just starting to open.  Some years they are all done by Memorial Day.  This year they are just starting.

This is the only other plant with a bloom on it.  I have about 30 peony bushes so there will be more photos later.

I worked on planting all of my pots in the afternoon.  I had a gift certificate and a $15 coupon to use toward my purchase of plants so I had fun.  I'll take photos after they fill in a little bit.

What wonderful color! I will have to post a picture of how tall my canna have gotten in the last couple of weeks since I had planted them. They are going gang busters! My zinnias are still growing, but it will be awhile before I get any color. I just hope the deer don't eat them!

What pretty blooms. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your pots this year. Did you winter-over any plants?

with the winter we had my plants have been strange this year - I have 3 peonies and only one came up and then it disappeared - I just happened to think about it when saw yours - I just cut grass in that area last week and it wasn't there! Half the hydrangea bush has flower buds - the other half doesn't - I'm blaming it on the winter - freezing then thawing one too many times - going from 25 to 55 then back down again too many times does it

The midwest is the perfect spot for peonies. I love all of their soft pretty colors.

Look at everything I miss when I am working! Also, while I am finishing up the block drive! Your plants are beautiful!

Enjoyed seeing your garden blossoms... Was wondering if your hard winter snows destroyed any of your plants ? We had a deep freeze that took several of mine. And yet we did not have a long winter like you did.

I love peonies but I forget about them as we don't have them here, how beautiful they are - there is something very lush about them. Definitely exuberant. Looking forward to more photos! I really like how sometimes you show us your garden.

Isn't it amazing the vitality of the plants that come up between 2 pieces of cement.

It's good to see you have blooms again. And I always enjoy seeing the many plants you have that just won't grow here in the "jungle"!

Here in western Canada we had a very cold winter ( think 40 below) but peonies always survive. They are amazing. However mine won't be blooming just yet because we have had a cool spring. Love that dark blue columbine!
