Finally........

I thought up every excuse possible of why not to go to the basement and quilt this quilt.  Finally at 8 p.m. I ran out of excuses and quilted it.  It took me 9 hours of excuses and only one hour of quilting.  You can probably tell that this isn't my favorite part.  Choosing the fabrics is one of the favorite parts and piecing it to see how the fabric choices work is the next most favorite part.  I need to finish them myself though.
I had to piece a panel from a few of the fabrics that are on the front to add to a full width piece to make the backing wide enough.  The quilt is so soft and cozy.  I got it trimmed so I can cut the binding today and get it sewn on.

It looks cheerful. We are in for a big storm... tonight thru tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how much hullabaloo is made and what we get!!! That flannel quilt would be lovely to have if we get what they predict!

Boy, I am with you 100% on the hierarchy of liking things: Choosing the fabrics! Designing and piecing! Sewing it. Making a back. Quilting? Hrrm.

I applaud your dedication in seeing these quilts through. I need to revive that part of it.

Your quilt is beautiful! I also enjoy the planning/piecing process much more than the quilting, too. It is very satisfying to watch the pieces come together and see the final picture unfold. I don't have a quilting machine, so my quilts for Project Linus are all tied or my own quilts are hand-quilted.

I wish I were close Wanda. I woud gladly do the quilting if you would do my bindings.

Really we should meet in the middle...you piece for me, and I quilt for you. lol! But then we would spend all our time picking fabrics! Your quilting looks great on this and I am glad you got in a finish before the next beauty.

I like the whole process but I don't spend the time you do on the color - but then I do more of what would be old fashioned scrappy patchwork and you do scrappy "art" LOL - you put a lot of thought into your color and it shows! you are one talented quilter.

Fortunately my BFF and I make a great team...she loves to piece and pick fabrics and colors. (I just collect the fabrics.) I have a longarm and my favorite part of the process is quilting and binding, consequently I'm better with those tasks. I love your color sense!

The quilting part of the process is intimidating for me. Sometimes taking that first stitch is the hardest step. This looks great.

As my mom would say "That's a good job done."

I love the quilting part. It is when the quilt turns into sculpture instead of flat fabric. I quilt rather densely to get that effect. I don't have a long arm. The only part I don't like about quilting is the basting which of course, you don't have to do on the long arm. Ever since I discovered how to use Elmer's washable glue, bindings are a snap.

How much more we could get done in our lives (quilting and otherwise) if we spent less time dreading/bitching/postponing and more time doing!

It is always such a great feeling to have them finished. I think my favorite part is the construction of the top.

Love the quilt. I'm still working on my first. I also love your flowers and thought you would understand my excitment...I have an orchid with 9 buds and 2 have opened. After years of trying I'm finally getting some flowers. Love your blog.

A soft, beautiful, snuggle quilt. I love those dreamy colors, flowing quilting and fun backing. It makes me smile. Congratulations on a lovely finish.

One of my all time favorite Calvin and Hobbes comic strips involves Calvin's "but I'm not done whining yet" declaration. Your excuse-making reminded me of the image - thanks for the giggles this morning (p.s. happy binding - it's a lovely quilt)

Oh Wanda your waves and loop quilting shows up nicely in the photo. And perfect for a warm cozy flannel quilt.

For whatever reason your weather block on your site tells me it is "Blocked Pug-in".... I think I need to up-date and download Adobe to get it back. I miss seeing your weather in Sandwich.

Isn't that always the case? I'm doing the same procrastination over the taxes. It will take one day to get everything done and together. I'll postpone it until the mast minute.

It does look very cozy. You can snuggle with it when you put the binding on.

Love the wavy lines!

It's amazing that I can waste much more time being upset about something, than just getting at it and finishing it. Cleaning gets the same reaction.
I bought a HandiQuilter Sweet 16 last year, and now love to do the quilting. Actually finishing the quilt is such a good feeling!

Some times we put things off so much we dread them only to find they were not that hard at all!
