A Special Day.......

When Dad passed away I requested that my art quilter friends not send flowers.  They are a very caring group and had supported me through the tough times.  I am blessed to have them as friends.  They decided they wanted to come to Sandwich and take me out to eat.  Most of them have to drive 1.5 - 2 hours to get here so this was very special.  Here are 4 of us.
This is all of us except the one who took the photo, the lady on the left in the photo above.  Yes the men are quilters too!  We had show and tell at my house first and then went down to the Bull Moose Bar and Grille.  Click on the link to read the history about the train car.  The weather was perfect for our outing and for their long drive to and from Sandwich.

Last night I got in a little sewing and the hand work on the binding is half done.  One more evening and I can call it a finish.

So glad you have such good friends. It seems to me that quilters can be the most loving and caring folks one meets.
Peace be with you my dear friend.

How lovely, Wanda! Friends are wonderful. That restaurant looks really neat.
I've read about your art quilt group but I'm wondering, do you meet once a month? What do you generally do? Is it for a morning, an afternoon, and what kinds of things do you do? Is it mostly show and tell or do do things?

What a caring group of friends! Those memories will last much longer than the flowers would have. That was a fabulous idea.

It was a treat to see your creative Art Quilters group. Always fun to see faces of those we hear so much about. A great looking group for sure and I can see the fondness in their faces that they have for Wanda.

Looks like a fun group. Glad you have such a fine support group. I, too, got lots of support from my friends in the blogosphere when my daughter died....

Gotta go check out the Bull Moose, looks lovely.

and they are lucky to have you in their life. If you quilt, you have friends. I was told this early on, no matter where you go, you will meet other quilters. What a great way to celebrate

What sweet friends! And I'm sure that is because you are a sweet friend to them. That backing fabric is gorgeous and makes such a good contrast to the calm front.
