Purple.......

Everything checked out OK at my eye appointment yesterday.  Now I will start visits every 3 months so they can check on the shrinkage of the tumor in my eye and look for any problems that may be a side effect of the radiation treatment.  I hope for some normal life between the appointments.  My friend Sarah drove me to Chicago yesterday and on the way home we stopped at the quilt shop in Yorkville that opened this summer.  I found this light color purple print and had to have a yard of it.  It is so hard to find purple or blue light prints.  I thought I would go to the basement and play with some purples but instead I pulled the pile of Fossil Fern and other Benartex prints that were in a series in the 1990s that were on a shelf in my main floor studio.  I need to mix them into my other fabrics instead of keeping them all together.
I think the fossil ferns are still available but I don't know about the other coordinating lines of fabric.  I think they look the most like batiks of any of the regular quilting fabrics.  Here is a quilt where I used a lot of them.

I have a question. I see we use the same blog provider. When I try to upload photos now I get this message that my gallery is full and now I need to pay $2.50 a month to have photo storage. Did you have to do this and pay monthly to continue blogging and adding photos?

Hoooray for a good checkup!

For Cedar Ridge Studio - it is possible to go in via Picasa web albums and delete some of the non-essential pictures. Just be aware that they will disappear from the blog posts where you used them.
If you shrink your photos to a smaller size (using a photo editor, I use PhotoShop Elements, You can have many more photos as the limit is based on file size.

So glad that everything is good with your eye! Yahoo!! I am sure that you will be doing many "normal" things in between your appointments too! Love all purples!

I am so happy your eye appointment went well. Praying for shrinkage and good vision... The purples are quite nice and the fossil ferns are so pretty.

Oh, goodie. When I saw the title of this post, my first thought was that this was about bruising. Fabric is so much better. I bought a yard of pale pale pink fossil fern this weekend and wish I had bought the pale blue that I put back on the shelf. Such easy blenders.

Love the fabrics and am trying to figure out where Yorkville is -- either way, I"ll put it on my list of places to visit if ever in the neighborhood!

I do so hope that the tumor continues to shrink! I can never find fossil ferns fabric anymore - I sold a quilt about 10 years ago that I had made from a colorful lot of that fabric and now I wish I hadn't because I can never find it anymore.

So happy everything is ok with your eye. Nothing like checking out a new quilt shop, makes for a good day.
I still have a few of those fossil fern prints too.

Those fossil fern fabrics are one of the best lines of fabric ever!

Praying for the tumor to continue to shrink. So happy for a good report. How wonderful that you were able to visit a quilt store!

I am so pleased to hear that your appointment went well, Wanda! More good news: fossil ferns can still be found. Quiltshops.com. Enter fossil ferns into the search box and click on 'thumbnails'. My favorite blender was the old venetian glass. They never should have discontinued that one.

Very very happy for you on your appointment result! That's such good news.
No wonder you couldn't resist that fabric -- it's gorgeous!

It is really great to hear that things are going well with your eye. I'm sure that has relieved some of your anxiety about the future.
Very beautiful piece of fabric that you purchased. I am enamored with purples these days, and I agree that it is quite difficult to find lights.
Cheers to you.

Such good news! Yeah!

I like the quilt you made with the fossil ferns - the quilt police don't visit my house either. If they do, they don't stay very long. ;)

I had a group of Fossil Fern flannel that I made into a quilt last winter. They do give the appearance of batik!

That quilt is so pretty. I want to make another of those. Loved the frost signatures on your windows, too. I don't want to see them here, but I enjoy seeing yours. :)

Relieved to learn doc's opinion of your progress.
What's now to LOVE the purple family - can not decide whether I lean toward the blue side of the family or the red.

I'm so glad to hear your got a good report from your dr. We'll be thinking about Spring before you have to go back! I have some old fossil fern fabric in pale blue and a little bit of a rosy red. Do you ever go to Roberts Sewing Center in Joliet? I don't travel to quilt shops but it's halfway between here and where my kids/grandkids live so I do stop there occasionally. It's a much bigger shop than the ones around here.

Well, that's good news!
I think I still have one or two of those fossil ferns hiding in my stash...

Ahhhhhh.........praise GOD for a good checkup and report......and a safe trip back home with a good little shopping trip thrown in to celebrate !

I remember those fossil ferns...still have a few myself.

I do hope the tumor shrinks to nothing, and the new year is a healthy one for you.

Plush Purples ! That new piece brings out the beauty in the rest of your existing stash. Now would you make a wall hanging with these purples and hang on one of your purple walls ? Or would it be too much ? Personally I can just picture it. Gorgeous...

Hey Wansa, Glad you are on the mend!! What is your method for sorting your fabric??? Nothing I try seems successful!!

I'm glad your check up went well. The purple fabric is lovely. I followed your link and the "jack frost paintings" were amazing! We don't get frosts like that here.

I was glad that your eye appt. went well and you get a break between doctor visits. I sometimes just hate going to the doctor when I am feeling fine. Now onto some mug rugs for gifts.

I have a collection of fossil ferns. I have been waiting for an inspiration for putting them together in a quilt.

Happy to read your eye appointment went well. Hope you have a speedy recovery from here on out.
