Another binding done...........

I am determined to keep up with the bindings on the quilts just quilted.  A lot of times I just stack them and think I'll get back and I rarely choose it as my project of the day.  This time I want all of the bindings done in the same month as the quilting.
This one was done completely by machine.  I sewed the binding on the front, flipped it to the back and then stitched on the right side of the quilt right next to the binding to catch the flap on the back.  It isn't easy to keep the stitching right at the edge of the flap but it is good enough for this fast and easy quilt.

Anyone in this area, remember the Quilter's Heart (in Sandwich, IL) sale will be 50% off starting this morning at 10 a.m. until closing on Dec. 3.  The store is open today and tomorrow and then Thurs., Fri., and Sat. next week.

I try to get the binding done after quilting since it's my least favorite part of the process. I like the all machine method for small items or donation quilts I figure it's probably sturdier for hospital washings.

Your bindings look great, that's usually my least favorite part of the process. It's almost as if I get right to the finish line -- then stop!

Enjoy the 50% off sale today :O)

it is good to keep up with the bindings and then the quilt is finished! I always do the binding as soon as I get done with the quilting as I so want to finish the quilt.
I bet the quilt shop has very little left in it now.

Here's a tip that I just used to finish my binding by machine. Attach the binding to the back first then flip to the front. (I first saw this from Crazy Mom Quilts) I use a walking foot and a 3/8" seam and when I flip to the front I can see exactly where the seam is and I can sew with another 3/8" seam and that almost comes out to look like I ditched sewed. I have a post on my blog if you want to check it out. http://lindaquilts-too.blogspot.com/2011/11/this-afternoon-i-made-binding-for-this.html
I love your blog!

I love the bindings you select for each quilt, as always they put such a lovely finish on the quilt. I like both machine and hand finished bindings, I lean toward the machine finish... cause I am always in a hurry.

So nice of you to advertise for Quilter's Heart. Not to mention working for her. Have you bought any treasures from the shop yourself ?

This is a pretty one. When I do machine bindings, my Bernina has a foot with a guide that hangs in the middle. I move the needle to the right and the guide goes along the folded edge of the binding. It makes a perfect job. My Bernina is a 1630 so the numbers are not the same as the more recent models, but it is #10. Don't know if other companies make a foot like this, but it is worth its price!

That is a wonderful goal Wanda. I'll have to keep that in mind for my quilts. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
