Crosses, cacti, new Kaffe fabric......

I decided to add 2 more rows onto the right side of this crosses quilt top.  I put the pieces of the last 4 rows back up on the design wall and then added pieces for the last 2 rows.  I moved some colors around too.  It is all sewn together now.
I always put my Christmas cacti outside in the summer but because I had 9 plants, they didn't all stay out there all summer.  I wish I had tagged them now as to which ones were out there the longest.  Three of them have buds.
You might remember that I rescued some at Wal*mart that they were letting dry out at the end of the season.  I was surprised that they had more than one bloom on the end of each leaf.  If you click and enlarge this photo you can see 2 buds on one of them.  Next summer I will have to come up with a solution for so many plants to all be outside all summer.
I started seeing some of the new fall Kaffe fabric on the internet so I checked out Canton Village Quiltworks and Jackie has some in.  I had to get some half yards.....I had to do it!

The crosses quilt is looking fantastic!! How big will it be when it is complete? It looks like it will be a nice size to cuddle with. Your Christmas Cactus always look wonderful, such a green thumb! So glad your fabrics arrived. The new ones are just wonderful and, of course, work well with his older collections.

Just had to. Sounds like the little boy that ate the cookie and said he had to. LOL The crosses look great. Grow the cactus and sell at your next yard sale. Chris

A woman has to do what a woman has to do! Never saw two buds on the cactus before. Fun! Mine stayed in all summer and has no buds yet.

I'm glad you rescued the Christmas cacti... your reward will be all the lovely flowers!

Only half-yard cuts of the latest and greatest KF? I admire your restraint...

Wow! Your quilt looks amazing. Those wonderful Christmas cacti will reward you with lots of blooms this winter.
You had to do it? Okay, but why only half yard cuts?

It's rain predictions for the whole week. I have boxes of scraps from the guild. I think I will have a marathon of cutting strips for the next guild workbee. We need to do some crosses quilt tops!!
the cactus need the change of cooler temps and longer nights to bloom. I try to keep mine outside until just before frost or in a chilly garage/basement with very little light.I've got 4 and one that i am coaxing back to life for my MIL.

Great Monday post ! Your Cross Quilt top is wonderful. Is there room on your blog to post your followers favorites ? (*._,*) I would have a hard time selecting my favorite but it would be fun.

Your Christmas cacti looks so lush and lovely... You surely gave them new life.

Your arrangement of fabrics makes me drool. What you posted ... are they pieces that you bought from Canton Village ?

Love the cacti, the crosses and the half yards. When you have to have fabric, just have it and enjoy!! The colours are so good together and I can see how hard it would be to get only one. From Jean down in NZ.

Those fabrics are so yummy! I am trying to be good, reminding myself that one of the great things about KF fabrics is that they stay in print a long time. And you are right to get HQs (at a minimum!); FQs of Kaffe are never enough!

The crosses quill is fabulous -- so rich!
Love the new Kaffe fabrics, the colours are vibrant and fun and wonderful!
Wonder if you'll have a Christmas cactus in bloom at Christmas.

Oh, yes, the crosses quilt looks all grown up now. Really pretty. And your cacti - wow, they are going to have a load of pretty flowers!

As to the fabric, I understand completely. It may seem extreme to some people, but it just makes perfect sense to me to have lots of what you like and will use on hand. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hi Wanda, Your Cross Quilt is beautiful!!
So are your cacti ! I don't have any blooms yet and mine are on the back porch. If you remember, mine
all got root rot last year and I started from cuttings.

Your Christmas cactus looks so healthy - mine is pale, limp and sad! We've had it outside, we've watered, we've let it dry out but nothing works! Think it's time to take it to the garden centre for some advice. Ours, of course, flowers in July!
