Miscellaneous.....

My granddaughter needed some things sewn on her jacket.  That is the only sewing I did yesterday.
I remodeled my kitchen 5 years ago and have been looking for a table and chair set that I felt were right for the space.  I've looked at sets that were $800-2300 and I just didn't like them enough to spend that kind of money.  I wanted a simple style so when I saw a set for $189 at Target this week I decided to check it out.  The closest store didn't have any in stock but 8 miles up the road there is another store and they had it.
I figured for that price I didn't have to love it, just like it.  I sat on the chair and it was sturdy and comfortable.  I have a lot more respect for the price of chairs after putting in 11 bolts and 4 screws in each chair.
The dark wood is a nice contrast to my floor and cabinets.  The table only had 8 bolts so it was easy.  I got 2 chairs assembled and called it a day.  I didn't work on the diamond quilt.  I decided I probably needed a day away from it to be able to make a decision what is next.  I'm thinking now it needs to be one row wider which is 13 more diamonds.  We'll see......

Ha ha...even in picking furniture the quilt designer comes out - no the wood doesn't "match" it provides "a nice contrast!"

At least you know now it the bolts come loose where to tighten them. The more expensive stuff is something you keep forever and this in a few years and cost wise can be changed. The weather is cooler and maybe you can get inspired to go back to the diamonds. Chris

I like the simplicity of the chairs and the dark wood against your floors. It must have been satisfying to put it all together.

We did that too. My grandson saw a table booth at a discount store. I didn't want to get it because I felt we should buy a better quality, but penny pincher that I am, relented. We have the booth where he does homework and I constantly clear the clutter.

Yours is great. I like the contrasting wood too.

It looks like a nice table and chairs. I guess you just never know where to go to find the right thing for your house with so many stores our of business. My girlfriend just bought side tables from Target for her bedroom and they also look great.

I LIKE your new chair. Sometimes the classic styles are best. There is a reason they are still here. And low price is definitely a bonus!

Very nice table/chairs. My dad is furnishing a new to him winter place and I'm going to get him to check out Target, I'm sure there is one close to his new place,

Will you be making a cushion for the chair? Will making sitting more comfortable for the hours you sit and sew.

Good for you. Girls can do anything....they put their mind to. I think the new chair looks great - can't really see enough of the table to tell about it.
I love your coloured diamonds.

I have a whole set of diamond templates ( in about 8 sizes ) as get unused ...perhaps yours will inspire me to start some.

If you like how it looks and if your derriere is comfortable resting on it, then that dining set was a wise purchase. Your money is better spent on fabric and all the other quilting goodies, don't you think? Love the chair!
I think furniture assembly is great fun. It's almost as much fun as working on a precut quilt kit. :)
