Look at this nail!!!

This is the 'little' nail my brother took out of my tire.  It was in there head first with the point sticking out of the tire.
The art quilters came yesterday and one of them made a Jelly Roll Race quilt.  I love the orange spacers in this combination of colors.  It is hot off the sewing machine here, not even pressed yet.
Today is Quilts of Valor (QOV) day in Batavia, IL.  After company left yesterday I pressed the seams on a bunch of strips we sewed last month and put 3 kits together.  It is supposed to be another scorcher today and then a front coming through late in the day and maybe a little rain.

A day that might be titled "Like nailing jelly to the wall." ;>

what a gift to have a brother! And thank goodness that nail went into your tire instead of your foot! Have you ever stepped on a pin in your bare feet? Gruesome.
I too love the orange spacers - big surprise, eh?

OMG that is a HUGE nail! How in the world did it get into your tire head first?

I like the spacers in the jelly roll quilt... I'm going to have to try that. You're using 2.5" strips rather than a jelly roll, yes?

amazing that the nail went in head first - very weird. For awhile I was getting nails in my tires a lot and even screws - there was construction going on in town and I heard they were told to clean up the area better because a lot of tires were going flat and people were getting mad!
Very hot here too - 82 at 6 AM

I have a slow leak in one of my tires. Hope the nail is not a giant one like you had! We pick up nails often due to horseshoes coming off of the buggy horses. I love that jelly roll quilt! The orange makes it!

That is a huge nail! If your tire went flat hopefully it happened at home. The orange spacers add a lot to the Jelly Roll Race quilt.

Now I have to add a jelly roll quilt to the everygrowing list! I will be using 2-1/2" strips whenever I do it because I always have those. But, the box of batiks are mostly fat quarters and I do love those!

Oh I am pleased we did not get one of those in a trye on our recent 8000km holiday in Aussie.
Love the strips you sewed together to make gorgeous tops.

Where on earth would you have picked up a nail of that size ? And to have it go in head first and out and out again.

Tell the lady or gentlemen that made the Jelly Roll Race quilt top. That it is a 'sparkler'... as you said the orange spacers is what makes this piece fun to see.

That is one heck of a nail. Where in the world did you pick that up?

I like the spacers in the quilt. Maybe that is what I should have done in mine.

I am glad it will cool off later tonight. I am sick of the extreme heat.

Hi Wanda,
The Jelly Roll with spacers is great. Looks like fireflies in the forest.

Bummer about the nail, but yay for your brother who is willing to help.
One time we were washing my car in the driveway and my husband said "how long has this bulge been in your tire?". I said "what bulge?" Needless to say we slowly drove to the tire store that very minute cuz who knows how long that would have held up without blowing?

Got your cooler weather yet? Ours is supposed to get here tomorrow. Yay for that, too.

Those orange spacers change the quilt dramatically. Quite interesting to see. And what a nail you got in that tire; I can't imagine how your brother even got it out!

Awe that nail must have been really important. I wonder what it was holding together? Great Jellyroll pattern. The stops make it feel less... jellyroll like.
