Lots accomplished........

I spent some time yesterday pulling backing fabrics and cutting batting pieces.  I have no excuse now for not finishing them.
When these plant first came up along the sidewalk I thought they were volunteer asters.  Now though I can see they are butterfly weed.  I showed the flower starting to open last year here in the fourth photo.  I need to dig them all out because they are too tall to be next to the sidewalk.  I might pot some in case someone in my area would like one or two.

After pulling weeds in the back yard, I came to the front to water my pots.  As I made my way to the hose I saw that the first evening primrose is blooming.

The red Penstemon, also known as Husker Red Beardtounge, is also just starting to bloom.  I have volunteers of it in places that are hard to dig them out of, like right between my goldflame spirea bush and the sidewalk.

Don't you just savor those days when so much is accomplished. I enjoy reflecting back and noting how much I did sometimes. It just feels so good! Really enjoy all the greenery. The penstemon (aka: Husker Red Beardtounge - so fun a name) is a really neat plant! That name though. Hee! Like a character in a novel or a type of bird or something… ;P

The only thing that I seem to get in my garden is milkweed which I really don't like. If I could walk along the creek bed I am sure there are many wild flowers growing. The only ones that I can really see from the house is Dame's rocket. At one time when I could breath better I wanted to take wild flower seeds and scatter them along the edge of the creek. I wish I would have done that now. My woodchuck has now made a large hole by my front door. I thought I had finally gotten rid of him and two weeks later he returned and made a bigger mess.

It is so nice to see all of the blooming going on in the yard now. I would think that you would not worry about things overgrowing with a fairly short growing season, but guess I am wrong.

I have just bought a penstemmon and put it into a pot on my patio! No flowers as yet, but glad to know what it will look like! (Except mine is pink.)

How can you work on a quilt when you have so much beauty all over in your yard?

Your butterfly weed grows to be a bush here in CA. You have to trim it back each year in the fall, or it will be gangly. Butterflies do like the flowers and so do the hummingbirds.

Wand a I love seeing what you do with Kaffe fabrics and others like them. It seems like you have an endless supply; your stash must be even bigger than mine. Do you have a plan for how much of each print to buy? It seems like I always want more of the one I bought least of.
