A day of sewing........

It was nice and warm in my studio while it was 12 degrees at the high point yesterday.

I quilted this journal cover with gold metallic thread.  I think the camera is confused by the shine of the gold.  It is really prettier than this.

Full view opened up.

This is the one I showed yesterday that was ready for quilting.  I ditch quilted the crazy pieced block with gold metallic thread.

The back is quilted with matching purple thread with random lines following the print.

The last one I finished has another crazy pieced block, ditch quilted this time with a variegated rayon thread.

Opened up.  I quilted the back with green thread and followed some of the designs in the print.

If you have made pillowcases with the tube method, you probably recognized what this photo is; 6 pillowcases ready to turn and stitch the side seam.  I decided as long as my church sewing circle wasn't meeting yesterday that I would go ahead and sew some of the cases I have already cut out.  Then we will have a head start on our January quota.

The journals are beautiful. Are these xmas gifts? I alway like it when I turn the pillowcases right side out - it is so much fun to see the border and insert strip all sewn together. Stay warm!

You had a very productive day yesterday. I love the journal cover. Great idea. I made 3 tube pillowcases yesterday and finished my first mug rug. I have 5 more pillowcases to do in the next couple of days. Glad you could stay warm. It isn't nearly as cold here in Oregon as it is where you live.

I love the perspective effect of the second cover. A beautiful gift. Colors are well-chosen!

Wanda, each one of those journal covers is a work of art in itself! They are simply beautiful. I can see the love you've sewn into each one of them. I've never done the tube pillowcase.

I really like the last two covers and the fact that the front and back are each quilted to go with the fabric/piecework. And, of course, the colors are wonderful.

The jornal covers are a fabulous use of scraps - I especially like the log cabin ones!
