Yardwork, quilting, binding

I went outside before it got too hot yesterday and trimmed all of the low branches on the redbud trees, cut the suckers off the trunks, and cut volunteer trees.  My brush pile is ready for pickup 2 weeks early.  Last night I quilted this quilt.  All it needed was an all over meandering pattern. Then I sewed on a test binding and pinned it to the back.  I think it will work so I'll cut more strips today.

The outer round is sewn on the 12 blocks I showed yesterday so I put them up on the design wall too.  It is time to transfer the blocks to one of my double design walls so I played around with some traditional layouts too.

Sunshine and shadow on the top half and straight furrows on the bottom.

Barn raising on the top and straight furrows at the bottom.  I need at least 34 more blocks for the size I have in mind so I'll keep sewing a few a day.

I'm also still hand stitiching the binding  on the "Chocolate and Caramel" quilt.  I'm half way done.

So nice to see the completed quilt in the top picture. How it appeals to the touch! And how the fabrics go together... Lovely! This is something I hardly perceive from the overall picture, just from the close-up.

Yes, that binding looks fantastic! Hooray for having the quilting done. I always love looking at the different layouts for log cabin blocks, so many choices. We did a little of what your did yesterday, trimmed branches. But we did it much later in the day.

I love the top quilt. And personally - sunshine and shadows remains my favorite log cabin design.

We have yet to tackle trimming the red bud. It is so lovely right now, I hate to touch it.

I will have trees to tree when we get home - it will be a chore.
Love the log cabin.

How will you ever decide? I love each of the log cabin layouts. Perhaps you'll choose one you don't already have in your collection.

Your completed quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I love how all the patterns and colors harmonize with each other. It will be interesting to see what you finally decide for the log cabins, too. Decisions, decisions!

I agree with"Muddling Through" ~ completed quilt is absolutely gorgeous ! ! ! Stunning photo of it.

What fun you are having with log cabin blocks, and for us to watch you play.

A work of art! I see how lazy I am when you show me this!

I don't think I have ever seen such a stunning log cabin as your shadows. I can see I need to purchase some light batik fabrics in order to 'get the look'! Thanks for sharing.

I love the log cabins and I am glad I don't have to decide how to arrange them. They look great. You made me feel guilty. I went outside this morning and looked at all the weeds in my flower bed and started pulling. I even pulled out some volunteers that I have in the front. I went to the garden store and found some red vinca! I have never seen red before but vinca is perfect for our hot summers and stays looking good until the first frost.

I remember that you commented recently you had ordered some K Fassett 2010 collection. Just in case---- fabric.com has it on sale for $6.58/yard through tomorrow.

call me crazy but - I kind of like the asymmetrical look where you set out one pattern on top and a different one on the lower half.

Just a thought...
