New fabric and A stroll around the yard

I went to a meeting yesterday that was held in a fabric store.  I couldn't come home empty handed could I?  I love the big floral print.  The flowers are lacy and almost a patchwork of textures and colors.  The purple batik at the bottom was in the sale rack for $3.99 a yard so I bought all 2 - 2/3 yards.

This is my early peony, the one that always blooms first.  the leaves are red when it first comes up but they change to mostly green later.  The next picture is taken from the top looking down into the plant.

I haven't raked any leaves in the peony bed.  I may just leave them this year and let them turn to mulch.  I know, that sounds lazy.  I'm not in the mood for outside work yet.

The Brunnera is blooming.  It is amazing to me that most of the blue flowers bloom early in the spring and then there aren't many more blue ones all summer.

The tulips are finally blooming.

I took this picture so I can remember what the center of a tulip looks like.  I have a few assorted tulips along the side of the house, ones that didn't get chopped into when I was digging to plant other things.  There is a red one, a purple one, and a couple buds that I think will be a deep pink.  The squirrels dug up all of the rest of the bulbs.  I'll have more garden walk later.  I have been taking pictures of the hostas as they uncurl.

All the fabrics you chose are beautiful! I can never walk into a quilt shop and come out empty handed. Your peony is so big already. I don't think that I have ever seen one come up so early! What color are the blooms?

I love your fabric choices.

I don't think I ever looked that closely into the heart of a tulip. That is a great picture. Thanks for sharing it.

Can't wait to see the hostas. They're my favorite...and the red buds...and the peony.

So, you're calling it a meeting? Much too dignified... but most definitely FUN!!!

Love the flowery fabric...

Downward view of the peony is smashing!!! Luv the new fabrics. I too am NOT ready for the yard work! I must do more fall prep so I can take more leisure with the spring quilting.

love all three of those fabrics (the floral is awesome) - and they go magically together.

The photo into the top of the peony is very close to the bottom piece of batik you acquired yesterday. Very close indeed.

Oh what beautiful pictures. The fabric is beautiful and the flowers, outstanding. The inside of the tulip is really amazing. Thank you!

Thank you Wanda, for the nice stroll! I love the tulips and ANYTHING blue. I grow a lot of mysotis (forget-me-not), but sadly, as you point out, it disappears with the spring. If you want blue into the summer you'll have to plant some of my favorites - hydrangeas!!!

I was just about to say what Marie said........so I second that. *S*

Blue (or purple) and yellow flowers always remind me of spring!

Those are fabulous fabrics -- I love that floral and, of course, the batik!
Your garden is much further along than ours. Nothing is blooming yet other than the daffodils.

Lovely fabric and photos. I read somewhere that if you plant a mothball with each tulip bulb the squirrels and mice will leave them alone. Never tried it, but I plant mine quite deep and have never had either problem. My problem with tulips is that spring is not warm enough and they are not even up yet. Sigh!! Thanks for sharing yours - that makes me smile!

There's nothing like a walk in the yard in springtime to gather inspiration. You must have been thinking about your peonies when picking out that fabric! Have a nice day.

This year, for some reason, I have been particularly mindful of the inside of my red tulips as they open up VERY wide in the late-day sun. I should get a picture of that, too. Nice fabrics you got!
